In the spring and summer of 2019, the low pathogenic bird flu H3N1 struck. At the heart of the Belgian poultry sector, in West Flanders, bird flu spread at a rapid rate. The symptoms are very similar to a highly pathogenic variant of bird flu. That is why it has been decided in Brussels of Europe to tackle this disease.
We have cleared more than 40 corrals with chickens in all age groups and weights. By applying corral gassing, it is possible to stun and kill 150,000 or more animals in corrals within a few minutes. We perform the killing under the watchful eye of veterinarians from the government. Among other things, the vet monitors animal welfare and checks us for compliance with applicable legislation.
